Encouraging your kids to read is important in parenting. What is even better is reading a book that was written and illustrated by kids. The Adventures of the Rabbits in the Most Magical Place on Earth is a great book that my daughter loves. She especially loves all the drawings made by Tyler Reich. He is an 11 year old sixth grader that drew the pictures for the book. His younger brother is Austin Reich. He is a 9 year old fourth grader. I think it is so awesome that these two boys were able to work together to create a stunning children’s book about a rabbit that gets lost while following a butterfly. The rabbit, named Rebecca and her family live at Disney World. The author and illustrator have been to the Most Magical Place on Earth six times. At the end of the book they both put together tips for parents about how to prepare taking your own trip. It is a fun and cute book for kids of all ages.
Another great book is Come Travel with Me: Philadelphia written by Michele Fisher. I learned so much reading it to my kids. I had no idea that so many things started in Philadelphia, like that the Declaration of Independence was signed there and that Benjamin Franklin started the first post office, firehouse, hospital and public library. The book talks about traveling to Philadelphia by plane. It takes you through the most famous spots like independence Hall and Mall. You can also read about the Liberty Bell and how it cracked a second time when it was rung on George Washington’s birthday, and that it was never rung again. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is best known for the scene in the Rocky movie, where he runs up the steps while training for a fight. I really enjoyed learning so much about Philadelphia and it is definitely a place I would love to travel to and visit.
